History

The Romanian Society of Acoustics S.R.A. was founded on the 7th of February 1994 as a result of free expressed decision of the founder members from the Politehnica University of Bucharest, the Romanian Academy, the Technical Military Academy, the University of Medicine “Carol Davila” of Bucharest, as well as from other higher education and research-development institutions, the notarial legalization being concluded on the 12th of May 1994.

S.R.A. is a professional, non-governmental, autonomous, non-pareil and politically non-involved society. Its members are and could be:

  • researchers and teaching staff, graduates of high education institutes working in acoustics domain or in related fields;
  • research-designing institutes, independent laboratories having measurement and checking functions in acoustics and vibrations; merchant companies producing/ delivering sound absorbent, sound insulator and antivibrating materials and systems.

 

S.R.A. setting up aim is the interest inducement for the acoustics domain and the development of fundamental and applied research in this domain, and in connection disciplinesarea also, concentrating the experts efforts and facilitating the technical and scientific data exchange in our country and abroad.

 

The Romanian Society of Acoustics upholdes the merchant companies, other private institutions, with states or mixed capital, having scientific research, expertise or specialized advising works, synthesis, quantitive/qualitative compared analysis, norms and standards processing, professional training courses, a.s.o. through direct relationships contractually conditioned.

 

S.R.A. involves in laboratory research development, informative and specializing courses in acoustics, vibrations and dynamics of machinery , physics of constructions, stimulates the scientific research in the university medium and supports the students participation in this trend.

 

S.R.A. edits a specialized review, having a bilingual presentation, which contains the fundamental and applied scientific contributions in the area, as well as the achievements and performances of the specialised firms, editor in chief being the chairman of S.R.A. – Mr. Professor,  Eng. Dr. h.c. Polidor BratuPh.D., member of the Romanian Academy of Technology.

 

Taking the necessary steps, S.R.A. was accepted as member with full rights of EUROPEAN ACOUSTICS ASSOCIATIONS (EAA) having the headquarter in Barcelona, Spain.

 

Through its members, S.R.A. fights for creating a „legible” and „friendly” image in the scientific, technical, university and business medium.
